” Named after Nigel Wright who was the captain at the time the course went from 13 to 18 holes. “ This delightfully positioned tee, like the 7th, presents a great natural landscape with the moor rising to the right and a big area of heather over the 8th green and away to the left. A wide inviting fairway rewards a solid tee shot, which is followed by a blind approach over an historically important turf dyke and down to a wide receptive sloping green. This is one hole that becomes a different proposition if played from the back tee as opposed to the forward or ladies tee. Played from the back tee the considerable carry required and the trouble lurking both left and right make this probably the most intimidating tee shot on the course. Pro’s Tip: Simply control your distance to avoid the cross ditch and this should leave you a semi blind but not too difficult downhill approach to a fairly shallow but unprotected green.
